About the Conference

The Faculty of Business and Management at the Technical University in Brno, the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University and the International Center of Public Finance and Tax Law Research, with its seat at Białystok, cordially invite you to the international research conference Interaction of Law and Economics: Sustainable Development, which will take place in Brno, Czech Republic, on the 11th and 12th of September, 2023. This conference is the result of joining two important and recognized research conferences: The 19th International Conference Perspectives of Business and Entrepreneurship Development and The 22nd Annual Conference of the International Center of Public Finance and Tax Law Research - Perspectives of Law. The main aim of this joined conference in the broader community of experts is to discuss current problems in development of theory and practice of the economic, legal and managerial environment in the context of sustainable development.

Focus and Scope

The primary goal of the conference is to provide a unique platform to facilitate the exchange of leading ideas among academics and practitioners in the field for effective advancement of knowledge in the field of law, economic, management, finance and system engineering from the perspective of challenges of sustainable development. This will be achieved through multi-disciplinary panels and discussions of current problems and conditions of law, business and entrepreneurships in Europe and the World.

The conference will bring together scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders from a range of fields to share their research and perspectives on the interaction of law and economics with sustainable development. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • The role of legal frameworks and institutions in promoting sustainable development
  • The effectiveness of economic instruments, such as taxation and subsidies, in incentivizing sustainable behavior
  • The relationship between environmental protection and economic growth
  • The challenges and opportunities of implementing sustainable development policies at the business, local, national, and international levels
  • The role of businesses and entrepreneurship in achieving sustainable development goals
  • The effectiveness of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in promoting sustainable development
  • The impact of sustainable business models on economic growth and social well-being
  • The challenges and opportunities of scaling up sustainable business models
  • The relationship between sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation
  • The role of technology and innovation in achieving sustainable development goals
  • The role of tax law and local authorities for sustainable development
  • Preparedness of current law to deal with emergencies
  • Contexts of illegal work to sustainable development
  • Contexts of financial literacy to sustainable development

We welcome submissions of original research, policy analysis, case studies, and other contributions that advance our understanding of the interaction of law and economics with sustainable development.

Conference Goal

The aim of this year’s conference is to provide an expert platform for sharing ideas and discussing opinions between the academics and practitioners in the sphere of new trends and perspectives of law, business development and entrepreneurship influenced by sustainable development.

Conference Language in Perspectives of Law section: for paper only English; for the presentation and discussion English, Czech, Polish, Slovak, Hungarian.

Conference Language in Perspectives of Business and Entrepreneurship Development section: English.

Manuscripts for the conference proceedings are accepted in English.

Conference History

The Faculty of Business and Management, Brno University of Technology

The Faculty of Business and Management, Brno University of Technology highly promotes international research cooperation. The regular scientific international conference Perspectives of Business and Entrepreneurship Development offers an opportunity for academics to present their research works. Conference is organized biannually and is always focused to the actual themes having influence on the society, companies, and enterprises, for example as is internationalisation, globalization, digitalisation, business models innovation etc. The primary goal of the conference is to provide a unique platform to facilitate the exchange of leading ideas among academics and practitioners in the field for effective advancement of knowledge in the field of economic, management, finance, and system engineering from the perspective of challenges to business and entrepreneurship around the world. This is achieved through multidisciplinary presentations and discussions of current problems and conditions of business and entrepreneurship in Europe and the World. The honorary patronage over the conference is taken by the dean of Faculty of Business and Management, Brno University of Technology.

International Center of Public Finance and Tax Law Research

The need for its establishment and institutionalisation continued in academic circles, which is why on 6 September 2002 the founding meeting of the Association “Center” was held in Bialystok. There are 20 signatures of founding members on the founding act. The priority of the Association “Center” is to establish and develop research contacts as well as conduct joint research. The Association takes part in the elaboration of thematic proposals, assistance in the implementation of scientific conferences and issuing of publications, and practical participation of members from different countries in various studies and scientific contacts. It is possible to mention several research projects in which scores of members of the Association implementation took part.

The results of scientific research are presented in the form of scientific publications, which have become an essential element of the Association’s activities. This concerns both the scientific monographs of a comparative nature as well as post-conference publications. 

Faculty of Law, Masaryk University

The Faculty of Law was one of the four founding faculties of Masaryk University in 1919. The Faculty of Law MU went through happy periods when both scholarship and teaching flourished, but also through less fortunate years. Its history is defined by times of great boom, but also decades when it was completely closed. The Faculty of Law at Masaryk University is one of the four public law faculties in the Czech Republic. The present day Faculty of Law can be described as a modern, dynamic faculty, where both teaching and scholarly work receive equal attention.
